The ABC Of Reaching Inner Peace

“Peace: It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work; it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.”

“Peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one’s own soul.” Ralph W. Trine

Easter is just a few days away and I thought it would be the best time to write about inner peace.

We don’t know the real value of inner peace until we’ve reached it … even if it’s just for a few moments.

But what is inner peace? My definition would be: a safe place inside where you never feel judged, never judge others; a personal world of wisdom, beauty, serenity; an old sage waiting quietly to receive and embrace you. It’s this place where we accept ourselves and others; the place where we honor our soul and we nurture our spirit. It’s respecting yourself. It’s valuing yourself. It’s the place where you find your true self.

You may think it’s tough to reach this place and that only enlightened people manage to get there. But, I’m telling you this is into every one of us – it’s definitely something within our reach.

You just need to let go of prejudices and mostly of limiting beliefs. Think openly. Have a totally opened mind and trust that it will come to you too. Oh, and yes – persistency and consistency are the key words!

So, how can the inner peace be reached?

There are the already known conventional ways – such as yoga, meditation, qi gong, saying daily affirmations, breathing exercises.

And then there are small things that done daily work wonders. They did for me, my friends and I’m sure they can do the same for you.

One of the tools I used was expressing gratitude on a daily basis. This helped me realize that I had so many good things in my life, things at hand that I failed to access in my pursuit of happiness. So, take 5 minutes every day and say out loud or write down 10 things you are grateful for.

Be compassionate and this will get you in touch with your sensitivity. It will bring love and will to help in your heart.

Music. Music did wonders for me. I’m totally and helplessly in love with it. It inspires me every day. Listen to music with your heart and your soul.

Learn patience. Patience is a virtue. It’s hard to reach inside of you with a restless mind. Yoga is a great teacher for patience. Many of yoga poses lead to finding balance. The inability of balancing the body is a sign of a restless mind.

Feed your spirit with good feelings and activities. Remember, what you put inside is what you get.

I could go on with this list, but as I found out by myself, our own personal recipes are those who work best. So, try the things on the list, but don’t stop there. Find the things that free you from the noise on the outside world and that get you in touch with the sage inside.

Honour and love yourself!
