Hearts on fire

What is the one thing of paramount importance in your life? What should we never lose track of? What could we always lean onto in times of trouble, what should we remember daily – that we can count on to support us?  What should guide our major decisions? When your whole life is turned upside down and your heart is blind with tears or rage, what is the one  thing that helps you find your North again?

What would you want to have written on your tombstone, or what  do you wish most people appreciated you for?

Big questions for me, and i know it’s hard to choose just one answer.

I remember a time not so long ago in my life when everything seemed to crumble down.

I had a happy relationship, a supportive family, a successful blooming business, a home of my own, wonderful friends and a relative financial comfort, independence, proximity to nature and my childhood places (so central to my life and regaining balance) within reach in 7 to 8 hours.

In a matter of a few months everything changed, one element after another collapsing like domino pieces.

What hurt most was the way my relationships were affected, and what I perceived as a massive LOSS of LOVE.  Not only did I seem to have lost other people’s love, I also had a heart full of anger, resentment, despair and sometimes hate. I had lost my capacity to love. Or so I thought…

Long story short, what I found is that a short prayer to have my heart filled with love again saves me.

It takes me through small daily challenges –like the need to stay calm, centered  and positive as a mother of two small children.

It taught me to listen more and speak less and try to understand better.

It helped me through times when all seemed lost. I literally prayed to be able to love again, in the hope that my love will one day rekindle old good feelings and heal severed ties. And guess what? It works!!! Hate, resentment or anger disintegrate when you systematically send across resilient love, glowing gratitude and quiet kindness.

When I have to make major decisions, or i face critical change, I ask for love to guide me. There is a wonderful feeling of relief and freedom, and the certainty that things will work out just fine.

Give it a try :)

My tombstone will write: “Resilient stubborn lover of all life and people” :)))
