An exercise of imagination

“I believe in angels,

Something good in everything I see”

ABBA – I Believe in Angels

Let’s make today the day when everyone on Earth does something kind for another. Let’s make today Love Day :) All together now!

Imagine just for a moment what this may look like: just for a perfect instant everyone will pause whatever it is they were doing, time will stand still and the whole world will switch their hearts and minds into Love mode: husbands and wives shouting words of anger remember the love they once shared and pledge to be more understanding and supportive of each other.

In conflict zones, people hug the soldiers and the military drop their guns and hug the crowds. The rain is gone and the sun shines bright.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Stop. What was that? Love everywhere? Pink balloons and white doves flying over the rainbow? Not for you? I see.

A dear friend of mine attended a seminar recently; one of the main ideas was that there is far too much positive thinking these days and that, in order to attain some balance, we should face and accept certain negative elements, within ourselves and in the outside world.

Now it’s my turn to ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Stop. What was that? Do we really see so many positive people running around, silly smiles hanging between their ears, serenity tunes playing in the air around them, while they talk in a ZEN manner about everything?

If there is a danger that self help and positive thinking lovers will flood the Earth, I’m ready!! Yes, bring it on! Positive affirmations, tapping for Emotional Freedom, Reiki, prayer and meditation, an army of smart, energetic and benign coaches to teach us clever goal setting and changing our habits for enhanced productivity, better health and happier relationships, charity workers, lovers, writers, teachers, friends, mothers, let’s join our hands and sing “ We will, we will rock you!”

My friends, the time has come and all of us can feel it: the time for compassion and intelligent caring, for positive innovation and healing of our world on all levels. We all see it around us: in the social media, in the thinking and actions of wonderful inspiring tycoons like Bill Gates and Richard Branson, who have set up to change the world and business as we know it; in the teachings of spiritual leaders like His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who urges us to make compassion and love the center of our actions; in the work of uplifting personalities, such as Oprah, Deepak Chopra, Louise Hay, Nick Ortner, Wayne Dyer, Dr John Gray, to name just a few of my favorites. I see it in my friends, colleagues and family, many of who feel the urge to offer their love and a bit of themselves to the world.

The first step ahead is to make today Love Day, the day when everyone on Earth does something kind for another. A smile, a silent hug, a caring word, a helping hand, donating our services and skills, or our money, by teaching others and sometimes by just being there when we are needed.  I know you get it. Happiness research and all religious leaders agree that kindness and compassion make happier people. So if you end up feeling happy, let’s make it Love Day again tomorrow!
